Doutorou-se em 2001, em Nutrição Humana. Foi Presidente da Assembleia Geral da Associação Portuguesa dos Nutricionistas nos mandatos que acompanharam o processo de criação da Ordem dos Nutricionistas, e membro-fundador da SPCNA. Foi Diretor da FCNAUP (2014-2018).
É Professor Catedrático de Alimentação e Nutrição Humana na FCNAUP, Investigador Integrado do ISPUP, e colaborador do CIAFEL. Tem presidido a Comissões de Avaliação Externa da Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior (A3ES) de Cursos de Licenciatura e Mestrado em Nutrição. É Presidente do Conselho Pedagógico e Diretor do Mestrado em Nutrição Pediátrica.

He is President of the Pedagogical Council and Director of the Master in Pediatric Nutrition.
