Fernando Pinto é Assistente Graduado Sénior de Cardiologia no Serviço de Cardiologia do Centro Hospitalar de Entre o Douro e Vouga, onde exerce funções desde outubro de 1998. Especialista Europeu em Hipertensão desde junho de2007, foi Presidente da Direcção (2013-2015) e Presidente da Mesa da Assembleia Geral em 2021-2023 da Sociedade Portuguesa de Hipertensão. Membro do Conselho Científico da Sociedade Portuguesa do AVC.

Participa regularmente em Reuniões Científicas onde tem apresentado diversas Comunicações sobre vários temas da área da Cardiologia, particularmente sobre Hipertensão Arterial. Colabora frequentemente em ações de formação na área da Cardiologia e da Hipertensão Arterial, especialmente dirigidas a médicos de Medicina Geral e Familiar.

Orientador de Formação de vários médicos do Internato das especialidades de Cardiologia, Medicina Interna e Medicina Geral e Familiar e de várias teses de Licenciatura e Mestrado, é Membro do Conselho Redatorial da Revista Portuguesa de Hipertensão e Risco Cardiovascular desde a sua fundação. Autor e co-autor de vários artigos em revistas científicas nas áreas da Cardiologia e da Hipertensão Arterial e risco Cardiovascular, participou em vários estudos clínicos. Foi o Investigador principal em Portugal do Estudo Multicêntrico Internacional sobre o tratamento ótimo da Hipertensão após AVC com o acrónimo ESH-CHL-SHOT.



Fernando Pinto is a Senior Graduate Cardiology Assistant at the Cardiology Service of Centro Hospitalar de Entre Douro e Vouga, where he has been working since October 1998. European specialist in Hypertension since June 2007, he was Chairman of the Board (2013-2015) and Board of the General Assembly in 2021-2023 of the Portuguese Society of Hypertension. Member of the Scientific Council of the Portuguese Stroke Society.
He regularly participates in Scientific Meetings where he has presented several Communications on various topics in the field of Cardiology, particularly on Arterial Hypertension. He often collaborates in training actions in the field of Cardiology and Arterial Hypertension, especially aimed at General and Family Medicine doctors.
Training advisor for several Internship physicians in the specialties of Cardiology, Internal Medicine and General and Family Medicine and for several Bachelor and Master theses, he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Portuguese Journal of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Risk since its foundation. Author and co-author of several articles in scientific journals in the areas of Cardiology and Arterial Hypertension and Cardiovascular risk, he participated in several clinical studies. He was the Principal Investigator in Portugal of the International Multicentric Study on the Optimal Treatment of Hypertension after Stroke with the acronym ESH-CHL-SHOT.
